Christantus Uche Ignites Straightforward Crystal Palace Triumph at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their maiden European adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting very quickly. Missing key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal straight entry to the knockout stages, particularly after a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were no match even for a largely second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Control Established from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the official dismissed the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.

The home side were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
