According to recent claims from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is reportedly preparing a commutation application for review by the Trump administration.

Special Treatment Claimed at Correctional Facility

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee announced that a whistleblower provided information indicating the inmate is working on the clemency petition. They also stated she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, declared in a official statement that the prison’s warden was “helping” the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to support her bid for executive mercy.

The exact content of the clemency request are unknown, Raskin added.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the supervisor has individually organized exclusive visits for her and her guests.

These meetings allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her associates.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the security risk and chance of unmonitored communications.

In one alleged instance, when phone lines went down for other inmates, Maxwell was given specific instructions about instructing her contacts to contact and how staff would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told House Democrats that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers promptly, she reportedly employed the warden as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release indicates that those writing to her would email documents directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to the inmate, for her to examine and change and return them to the official to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Reported

Other privileges reportedly provided to Maxwell include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a benefit not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Maxwell’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the presidential office said that it “does not comment” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, pardoning the convict is not something he has considered,” the representative noted.

Recent Background

Recently, it was reported that she told close associates in electronic messages that she was more content at the Texas facility than her former location.

In August, she was moved from a secure facility in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in Texas, where most inmates are incarcerated for financial and non-violent crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, the official, who also previously served as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

That interview came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the Epstein investigation and amid widespread conjecture around Trump's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while facing trial on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, Raskin also revealed that he had sent a letter to the President, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and urged the chief executive to reject the clemency appeal.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” Raskin wrote in the document. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with canine interaction, with government agents attending to her requests, or with any special treatment or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that the official appear for a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to the President.

He inquired whether Trump had discussed a possible clemency for Maxwell with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to arrange Maxwell with the transfer or special conditions in prison, and whether she, her attorneys, relatives or representatives have made any commitments to the President or his legal team.

Raskin has asked for a reply to the questions by the specified date.

Last month, the US supreme court rejected an petition from the convict on her trafficking verdict.
