World Health Organization Raises Concern Over Acute Shortage of Weight-Loss Medications
Under a tenth of patients eligible to benefit from weight-loss injections like Wegovy are able to get them, warns the WHO as it issues its initial guidance on the drugs.

Even under the current best projected case, the manufacturing of these medications might only reach around 100 million people – fewer than 10% of the global need, per the WHO.
The guideline urges countries and companies to increase availability, by approaches like licensing agreements.
Exclusive production rights on a key compound – the primary component of a leading brand – is scheduled to end in several nations in 2026.
